Independent race-day analysis
Horse Racing Companion
Available on iOS · v1.0.2 · Bing Crosby fall meet ready Nov 6–29
An independent iPhone app for Del Mar race days: one pick per race with the reasons, every horse's estimated win chance, and a saved record of each final pick beside the official result. Version 1.0.2 adds the fall Bing Crosby meet schedule and a Pool money card that shows exotic-pool prices beside the pick.
Why I built it
A day at Del Mar had one frustrating part: the betting window. Horse Racing Companion weighs public odds, past Del Mar results for horses, trainers, jockeys, and post position the same way for every race — and says so when the information is not there.

How the workflow fits together
A short guide to the application’s workflow.
- Step 1
Read the day's card
The Races tab lists every Del Mar race with post time, surface, and distance, with the next race first. Live picks open about two hours before first post.
- Step 2
See the pick and the reasons
Each race shows the pick, a confidence meter, and a short explanation, plus every horse with jockey, trainer, odds, and estimated win chance.
- Step 3
Check the record
About two minutes before post the pick is saved. The Results tab shows it beside the official finish, marked Matched or Did Not Match, with a summary for each race day.
Project status and access
Horse Racing Companion is an independent app and is not affiliated with Del Mar Thoroughbred Club. It has no bet slip, wagering account, or connection to a betting operator, and it never places a wager. The tracked summer record — 47 of 105 final picks matched (44.8%) across 13 cards, August 20 through closing day September 7, 2026, with no pick in 16 of 121 settled races — is a small sample that does not establish profitability or a betting edge. The fall Bing Crosby meet (November 6–29) is included in the season pass at no additional charge. For adults 18+.
